OWL MOUNTAIN - BIRD ROCK - DRAGON ROCK

This extraordinarily named small mountain and large rocks are located nearby Baku-Shamakhi highway, in Gobustan district. The rock edged, table type Owl mountain`s top is grassy. BirdRock is  very unique because from different directions is likened various figures. Most people see a “Mother and Child”, “Rushmore” mountain (USA presidents head monuments) and “Sphinx”. The second rock in this area we named the Dragon Rock because of it shape.

According to our plan, we will start our tour from Owl mountain. We will give basic climbing instructions in front of 30m rock wall. The training includes descent by rope (a rappel), top rope climbing, usage instructions of mountaineering equipment and ropes. Then we will move to the BirdRock by car, using a 2-3 km ravine edged road which is along the Jeyrankechmez river bank. After BirdRock our next stop will be Dragon Rock. The pictures which you will take in both places will impress your friends. If you go here in the winter you will also have the opportunity to observe the life style of nomadic shepherds. If we will have an enough time we may visit the mud volcano which is located nearby of this area.

10.00-13.00 Training will start with breaks (you can have lunch during this period)
13.15 We will move to BirdRock
13.45-14.30 Afer visiting BirdRock we will have leisure time before going to the Dragon Rock (20 minutes)
14.50-15.30 Seeing the Dragon Rock and leisure time. Then we will go to the nearby mud volcano if will have enough time
16.00 Returning to Baku
17.30 In Baku

• Mountaineering equipment (ropes, carabiners, helmets, safety harnesses, etc.)
• Training by professional mountaineer
 

• Suitable clothing as per weather condition
• Comfortable and tough footwear (It is recommended to have a tough (bottom) shoe. Because you will climb to the rock with same shoe)
• Sunglasses, trekking poles (if available)
• Food and water (at least 1 lt)
• Comfortable backpack
